We all know that day. The one where you wake up, but your bed sheets seem to have been glued to your very skin and have trapped you in their grasp. Yeah, that was Sunday for me.
But alas, I could not stay inside forever. Not on such a beautiful, spring-weathered day.So I invited Dave over for breakfast, and we munched on homemade oatmeal before crossing the street to Twosome Place Cafe. My oat endeavors did not end with my breakfast, as I ordered an oat milk latte for my morning cup of Joe. Dave, who had just poked fun at me for ordering something with more oat milk than coffee, proceeded to order a vanilla milk shake... which mind you has zero coffee in it.
After being appropriately caffeinated, Dave and I took a walk one station down to the 이대 (Ewha University) area. Open from around noon to 9 pm, 이대 Fashion Street is well known for its many inexpensive clothing stores, especially in female clothing since 이대 is a women's university. Of course they have the usual line up of make-up shops such as Nature Republic, Etude House, and Skin Food. Of all the skin shops, I've chosen Etude House as my go to for any beauty needs. Although Innis Free is definitely my second in line, at least as far as skin care goes. If you need a little more variety than just one brand name store can offer, try hitting up a LalaLove or Olive Young. These serve a very similar purpose to the American CVS or Walgreens stores, although you won't be picking up any prescriptions here. But 이대 is much better known for there variety of unique clothing stores. Each one sells many of the same items (but often times at different costs), and they carry their own unique lines as well. I highly suggest you browse the entire area before making a purchase to compare pricing.

- 201

- Small but has a different variety than most of the other stores in fashion street. They also offer a more discounted section, often with off-season clothing. Clothes here are fairly descent price, but watch those return deadlines! Depending on who's working, the store clerks may be very rude, especially towards foreigners. I give them a 7/10.
- Uni Shop
- Uni store, much like 201, is small but carries a more unique line. The prices here tend to run a little higher, however. But in return the customer service is usually a little more attentive. You can still find a steal, though! Overall, I give them a 8/10.
- J&J

- The biggest store in fashion street, you will find this in the basement of elCube department store, just beneath the line friends shop. They have a vast clearance section, but their regularly priced items tend to go a bit higher than usual. This store also offers a men section, a major bonus in comparison to the above ground locations. I give them a 6/10.
- Damaza

- This is THE store for girls in fashion street. Its the largest boutique style shop, carrying a variety of daily looks that can be mixed and matched to the fashionista's content. The customer service is always friendly, and the workers will even chat with you while you shop. Exchanges are a little more lenient, but do try to stay within the time period to be fair. The clothes here are reasonably priced, and you can find an abundance of looks for any occasion. Overall? 10/10.
Some extra tips?
Most stores offer a 7 day exchange period. Make sure the tag is on (if it came with one) and you have the receipt. Definitely avoid wearing the clothes if possible, because they CAN tell.
Make sure you review the dressing room instructions before trying on clothing. Many stores do not allow customers to try on pants for sanitary reasons.
Shoe stores will not carry women's shoes over size 260. Rip us bigfeet gals.
Keep in mind the quality of the product you are buying and not just the aesthetic. You pay for what you get.
Always thank the shop owners! Even if they're crabby. They deal with lots of customers all day long.
Double check prices and listen to the total amount. If a total is incorrect, it may not mean the clerk is trying to scam you, sometimes the prices change without their knowledge. Just be patient and work with them to make it right!
I went home with a reasonable amount of clothing without too big of a chunk of change missing from my pocket. I highly suggest 이대 for women's fashion!
